On Saturday night the Rockets welcomed Tyneside based club Whitley Warriors to the DIA for the Warriors first visit back to Tayside since 2021.

The Warriors wasted no time in getting on the board, just 1:46 into the game Jack Williams fired the puck into the Rockets net to give the visitors a 1 goal lead. The Rockets would reply at the 14 minute mark through Sean Beattie with assists from linemates John Dolan and Deniss Kontseus.

There was just the one goal to report in the 2nd period, with Jack Williams doubling his tally for the evening at 30:22, putting the Warriors up 2-1 heading into the final stanza.

The 3rd period began, and the Rockets knew they had to have a fight back in the final period, with Warriors netminder Thomas Brown turning away numerous shots and relentless pressure throughout the course of the game, but at 48:48 Rockets Grant Reekie buried his breakaway with a great shot into the top left corner cleanly beating the blocker side of Brown. The comeback goals happened just 58 seconds apart, with Drew Rumgay sniping his shot right into the postage stamp off a great set up pass from John Dolan.

The Rockets held onto their 3-2 lead for the last 10 minutes, while keeping the Warriors at bay and still creating many scoring chances, leaving the game to finish with a final score of Dundee Rockets 3-2 Whitley Warriors.

The Dundee Rockets will return to home ice on 21 December when they host the Aberdeen Lynx at Dundee Ice Arena. Face off is at 5 p.m.
